These words are the beginning to a very familiar wedding custom phrase...
"Something old" symbolizes continuity with... family and the past. "Something new" means optimism and hope for the... new life ahead. (Ask Yahoo)
The phrase is certainly appropriate as an analogy to describe the rapidly changing technical world that we suddenly find ourselves in..as related to our culture and society...and, especially as related to the world of publishing...
What we are witnessing is the literal "marrying"- a union between a long, proud, predictable, and established heritage to a very "new" and different present and future..."publishing" and the "delivery of published content" is changed... It is however, still all about "communicating content..." ...communicating...
